On our way home from St Louis this past week we ventured our way through Louisville, KY. If you've ever been through Louisville or stopped through you may have noticed this little city has nothing but big flavors. This isn't the first place we have been fortunate enough to try out and it definitely will not be the last.
Mojito Tapas Restaurant
2231 Holiday Manor Ctr, Louisville, KY 40222
You may wonder what made us chose this place from all of the other wonderful options, well to be honest, it was just luck of the draw. We were headed to Wild Eggs, but ended up running behind schedule and they close at 3 pm. So as pictured you see Mojito Tapas, beautiful modern exterior.
Upon venturing inside, the restaurant was laid back and relaxing. There were not very many dining so we didn't have to wait, and were seated right away by our kind server. They also have spacious booths and tables, along with delightful Spanish paintings.
Since it was National Margarita Day, I of course opted for a Margarita with strawberry infused. The margarita was delicious! The flavor and alcohol was well balanced, not too sweet and not too much liquor either. They seemed to have found the perfect middle ground.
There were so many options to pick from that sounded delicious, we had a hard time choosing only one main entree. We opted for a side of the chicken tacos to share, Seth chose Lamb chops over hummus, and I chose Chicken Marsala.
The plating was beautiful.
Via Seth,
"I ordered the Lamb medium rare and they were cooked absolutely perfect. Filled with flavor, juicy and absolutely delicious. The red pepper hummus was great and full of amazing spices and flavors. I would have changed nothing about it."
As for my wonderful dish, it was wonderful. Did I mention, it was Wonderful? Being a somewhat light eater, I don't usually clear my plate. But this time it was too good to let one single morsel go to waste. The chicken was cooked beautifully, it fell apart at the touch of silverware. The Marsala sauce had a great flavor and sweetness. It was served over mashed potatoes which pulled it all together perfectly. I wish there were better words to explain how exceptional our entrees were!
Last but not least, the chicken tacos. The tacos had shredded chicken cooked in a tomato creole sauce, placed atop a bit of guacamole.
Loaded with cilantro, and a slight drizzle of sour cream, they did not need many toppings. Everything tasted amazing together. Freshly cut limes were provided on the side for a squeeze of juice to top it all off. Tacos are not tacos without lime!
Our food was beautifully crafted, the service was good, and the space comfortable. We could not have wished for a better meal.
