It was a special day!
Our anniversary as a
couple!
Seth surprised me by taking us out to dinner at the Black
Point. The black point is an upscale steak house located in the Short North of
Columbus. After talking about how much I wanted to go every time we were in the
area, I was very excited.
He set up reservations for us for 6 p.m. and we arrived
early. We decided to wait for our table to be ready and sat at the bar for a few
minutes before the hostess seated us.
When brought to our table I noticed the restaurant had left
us a small tea light surrounded by beautiful rose petals and a small card that
said Happy Anniversary on it. How thoughtful!
We then placed our orders, Seth and I both choosing one of
their popular menu items, Surf and Turf Prix Fixe. The Surf and Turf included
the following options, for the first course you pick between classic Caesar
salad, kale and Brussels sprouts, the wedge salad, and lobster bisque. The entrée
was an 8 oz. Filet mignon and you chose
which “surf” item you would like to pair it with, such as jumbo sea scallops
with lemon citrus sauce, or the lobster crab cake. And for the Grand finale,
dessert, you had the option between flourless chocolate cake, or salted caramel
cheesecake.
For the first course we both picked the Wedge salad.
I was definitely happy with this pick, and so was Seth. It
was one of the best salads we have ever had. The wedge included iceberg
lettuce, smoked bacon, egg, fine blue cheese, and French dressing. It was a
pretty big dish as well. Along with the salad they served us bread, which was
also wonderful. Seth’s grandma always makes him homemade rolls, and we thought
these were similar in taste. (No match of course, for grandmas is always
better)
After the salad we picked opposite dishes for the “Surf”.
Seth went with the jumbo scallops, and I the lobster crab cake. I’m not much of
a seafood fan, but I was excited to try it!
When we were brought out our main dishes we were astounded.
The flavor of our filet mignon was perfect. The filet was very well seasoned
and had been cooked properly to our requests. As for the scallops, Seth enjoyed
them and they were presented beautifully. My lobster crab cake- the first time I
had ever remotely tried lobster in my life- was good! I managed to eat a few
bites of it before handing it over to Seth to finish. We also ordered a side
dish of mashed potatoes and they were very good!
By the time we were ready for dessert, we were not. We were
so full! We both decided on the flourless chocolate cake. The cake was also so
good, although we were unable to finish it. It was very soft and rich. We asked
to have our remaining cake boxed, and were surprised with a free dessert for us
to share complimentary of Black point for it being our anniversary! They gave
us the caramel cheesecake, which we later tried and absolutely loved.
All in all, we enjoyed our evening at Black Point very much!
I think we will make it a special occasion favorite for in the future. Everyone
who helped serve us was very friendly, and the restaurant had a nice
atmosphere, on top of the food being delicious.
We want to thank everyone at the Black Point for making our
night so special!
Your food friend, Tasty
