Cajun Eats in Short North Columbus - De Levee

If anyone in Ohio is looking for food with a Cajun twist then we may have found the place for you!

Located in Columbus's Short North is Da Levee.

This restaurant has a variety of Cajun dishes such as gumbo, Jambalaya, and chicken creole. They also have some other delicious choices as well.

The interior was decorated with beads, and cool candles scattered on the tables, the restaurant had a very festive vibe. It definitely had a New Orleans type of look to it.

We couldn't decide on which dish to order so we went with the Mt. Po Boy.

If you come to Da Levee looking for a sandwich you cant go wrong with this one, mainly for the fact that it is loaded with a variety of different delicious meats. Cajun food is typically spicy and that's exactly what the Mt. Po Boy sandwich was. And I left out the fact that it was freakin' delicious. This flavor packed sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while.

Every bit of meat in this sandwich tasted amazing, the sweetness of the butter bun mixed well with the juicy, spicy, tangy meat. It had the perfect amount of heat that really brings out the flavor of what I believe they were trying to achieve while cooking this sandwich.

Every bite was a soft, spicy, delicious adventure. Yes, you heard right adventure. It was almost like instead of being in Columbus Ohio, our taste buds took us for a trip down to Orleans. Mt Po Boy was served with chips and a pickle. So you can't go wrong for 8 bucks!

Way to go Da Levee! We will definitely be back again soon!

Roosters, it's an Ohio thing!

We are so proud to be from Ohio for so many reasons, and Roosters being one of them! Roosters is a restaurant that only 'Ohioans' or Ohio visitors know about. It's not a five star fancy schmansy restaurant, just a tasty and fun place to eat at on a weekend or after a long days work. The famous slogan really speaks for itself "A fun, casual, joint", but it doesn't happen to mention the delicious food they have available! We are regular Rooster customers, we usually go a couple of times a month. We usually stick with our favorites from the menu, but you really can't go wrong with anything they have to offer. Whether it's the loaded nachos, a burger, or their tender boneless wings dipped in your choice of TOP OF THE LINE wing sauce, you wont be disappointed. Most of the time we go with the boneless wings drenched in tangy sweet Thai chili sauce. The quality of the meat is unbeatable, but the big kicker for us is the sauce. The sweet

Amorino has the Gelato

Oh gelato, you make me smile, especially in the form of a beautiful rose. Yes, you read that correctly, gelato in the shape of a rose. You can find this so called rose shaped gelato at Amarino in Chicago. After hearing about this place, I HAD to add it to our itinerary while we were back in the Windy City. Amarino is downtown, and we didn’t have that much trouble finding parking. We went later in the afternoon; I would say around 5 p.m. and found Amarino to be especially empty. When you enter the double sliding doors (cool touch) you will be right in front of their gelato selections. They have a wide selection. We came for the rose, but you are able to get a simple bowl instead as well. When finally deciding what flavors we wanted we ended up with Pistachio, cookie butter, and chocolate. The flavors went very well together. We watched in awe as the server sculpted a beautiful rose master piece in front of us. It turned out so pretty!

Fatso's.. hopefully Not-so Last Stand

Fatso’s Last Stand is a "somewhat" fast food restaurant that can also be found on the outskirts of Chicago. When it comes to hot-dogs, Chicago is the place you want to be. For those who may not know, the traditional Chicago dog includes an all-beef frank placed on a poppy seed bun, with a lot of toppings such as, white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled peppers, and lastly yellow mustard. Out of the many, many, places in Chicago you can find a great hot dog we wound up at Fatso’s. Not only does Fatso’s offer great hot-dogs, they have their own spin on hamburgers. The burger is famously named “The Fatso Burger” and we couldn’t leave without trying both. When ordering you’ll also notice that all of their hot-dogs are served Chicago style, but you can add or remove all the toppings that you would like. Fatso’s has a few different types of hot-dogs to pick from in terms of the meat and style
