"And in the Mornin' I'm eatin' Waffles" : Jack Flaps

If you're in Cleveland Ohio, you will find Jack Flaps.
A place that just may have you doing back flaps.. I mean back flips...

Jack Flaps is a hip breakfast and brunch spot right outside of downtown.

The inside of this restaurant is modern, and they have a few cool photographs strewn across the walls of what appears to may be the owners. The photo's seem to bring the place life. We really enjoyed them!

After arriving we found the place to be full of people, and a bunch of people were waiting outside. We were told there would be a wait.

So, we waited. There wasn't much space for waiting and definitely not any seating. If I were to make any suggestions for the restaurant it would be to make some more room! Not always possible though.

While waiting we scoured over the brief menu. They have quite a few interesting plates. Seth had a hard time picking between the Benedicto Mexicano and the shrimp and grits. Finally, he decided he would try the Mexican inspired dish, and I didn't want to pass up the beautiful waffles they offer!

We were finally seated at the bar, with a few others. And we were brought out our plates briefly after.

Benedicto Mexicano

All you Mexican food fans out there, ready yourselves for an awesome one of a kind breakfast dish.

Mexican Eggs Benedict! This dish consists of Jalapeno corn bread, topped with Chorizo Ranchero gravy, Herb Crema, and sunny side up Eggs.

The chorizo ranchero gravy was loaded with flavor. It had a little bit of kick, but was at perfect level for someone who enjoys spicy food. The gravy had a bold taste of peppers and spices which was definitely appreciated. The cornbread was the best thing about this dish. The cornbread had the same flavor as an authentic Mexican corn tortilla, and I thought that was very clever.

The tortilla pulled everything together perfectly, giving it a nice traditional Mexican flavor and still playing the part of a breakfast dish at the same time, which was a beautiful flavor hybrid.

I definitely recommend this dish to anyone who likes their breakfast with a little spicy twist.

Raspberry Crisp Waffle

This fluffy waffle was covered with raspberry coulis, vanilla mascarpone, and granola.

It was a decent Waffle that had a lot of different textures you don't normally find with other Waffles. The Waffle itself was fluffy which isn't always a good thing, but it wasn't a bad thing either. The tang of the raspberry went well with the granola. A little more crispness on the Waffle would have been great, but no complaints. We both enjoyed how beautifully presented it was!

Jack Flaps is definitely a new age breakfast restaurant that has plenty of food you might not find in very many locations.

Our Tasty Taste Test meter votes that we would give this restaurant another try! Just make sure that you're not in a hurry, because with great tastes also sometimes comes a longer wait.

Until our next foodie adventure, Tasty~

Roosters, it's an Ohio thing!

We are so proud to be from Ohio for so many reasons, and Roosters being one of them!  Roosters is a restaurant that only 'Ohioans' or Ohio visitors know about. It's not a five star fancy schmansy restaurant, just a tasty and fun place to eat at on a weekend or after a long days work. The famous slogan really speaks for itself "A fun, casual, joint", but it doesn't happen to mention the delicious food they have available!  We are regular Rooster customers, we usually go a couple of times a month. We usually stick with our favorites from the menu, but you really can't go wrong with anything they have to offer. Whether it's the loaded nachos, a burger, or their tender boneless wings dipped in your choice of TOP OF THE LINE wing sauce, you wont be disappointed. Most of the time we go with the boneless wings drenched in tangy sweet Thai chili sauce. The quality of the meat is unbeatable, but the big kicker for us is the sauce. The sweet

Amorino has the Gelato

Oh gelato, you make me smile, especially in the form of a beautiful rose. Yes, you read that correctly, gelato in the shape of a rose. You can find this so called rose shaped gelato at Amarino in Chicago. After hearing about this place, I HAD to add it to our itinerary while we were back in the Windy City. Amarino is downtown, and we didn’t have that much trouble finding parking. We went later in the afternoon; I would say around 5 p.m. and found Amarino to be especially empty. When you enter the double sliding doors (cool touch) you will be right in front of their gelato selections. They have a wide selection. We came for the rose, but you are able to get a simple bowl instead as well.  When finally deciding what flavors we wanted we ended up with Pistachio, cookie butter, and chocolate. The flavors went very well together. We watched in awe as the server sculpted a beautiful rose master piece in front of us. It turned out so pretty!

Fatso's.. hopefully Not-so Last Stand

Fatso’s Last Stand is a "somewhat" fast food restaurant that can also be found on the outskirts of Chicago. When it comes to hot-dogs, Chicago is the place you want to be. For those who may not know, the traditional Chicago dog includes an all-beef frank placed on a poppy seed bun, with a lot of toppings such as, white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled peppers, and lastly yellow mustard. Out of the many, many, places in Chicago you can find a great hot dog we wound up at Fatso’s. Not only does Fatso’s offer great hot-dogs, they have their own spin on hamburgers. The burger is famously named “The Fatso Burger” and we couldn’t leave without trying both. When ordering you’ll also notice that all of their hot-dogs are served Chicago style, but you can add or remove all the toppings that you would like. Fatso’s has a few different types of hot-dogs to pick from in terms of the meat and style
