Top-Notch Breakfast Spot in St Louis

Our next stop, Rooster!

Much like a lot of restaurants in Saint Louis, this one was bustling with people. We arrived around 9 a.m for breakfast. It was very busy, get here early if you don't want to wait for a table.

We were seated after a 15 minute wait in their very small entrance room. We noticed they too had fresh flowers on every table. Also just as a note there were only tables, no booths.

The menu was simple enough. Seth decided he would try their take on the BLT called a
B.E.L.T. and I decided I wanted something simple also so I went with a breakfast skillet.

The wait time was surprisingly fast for how busy they were. I assume they are probably used to being busy with how well they handled everyone.

Seth's B.E.L.T,

"I got my eggs sunny side up, and I got them exactly the way I asked, the bread was decent. The spicy mayo was a great touch to a rather mild breakfast sandwich, so they had a perfect point adding the spicy mayo.

They know their way around guacamole as well, it was tangy and good. The guacamole was an extra 75 cents but it was worth it.

The only thing I would have changed is that I would have liked a little more guacamole, but it was not a disappointment. The bacon was crispy and delicious and everything seemed to taste good together.

This sandwich is a very generous portion of food which is also good for the money you pay. Overall I was satisfied with this dish."

Then as for my breakfast skillet, they had a few different kinds you could chose from such as chorizo, ham or bacon etc. I opted for the chicken. The chicken skillet had roasted tomatoes, spinach, hash browns, scrambled eggs and was seasoned okay.

My favorite part about the Scramble was the tomatoes and spinach. They seemed to be really fresh.

The restaurant boasts about being in touch with the local farmers, so I would agree that they know what they're doing in that aspect.

As for my chicken, it was simply okay. A little underwhelming. The dish was good altogether though.

After being not so pleased with the main course I decided we would also try a dessert. They had a very limited dessert menu. On it was a few choices of sweet crepes, and ice cream.

We went with the chocolate chip crepe.

This Crepe was great. It over the top sweet (In a good way) with chocolate in every bite. What more could you ask for right? The Crepe itself was delicious and everything added to it made it just that much better. We also ordered ice cream with it for an up-charge. The ice cream was also definitely worth it.

If there is one thing I would have to suggest it would be to get the crepes. Everything at this restaurant was made fresh, and you do not leave without being full. By the time we hurriedly finished our crepe we were stuffed!

If you want a nice breakfast at a decent price with good quality, this is the place for you!

Tasty signing off~

Roosters, it's an Ohio thing!

We are so proud to be from Ohio for so many reasons, and Roosters being one of them!  Roosters is a restaurant that only 'Ohioans' or Ohio visitors know about. It's not a five star fancy schmansy restaurant, just a tasty and fun place to eat at on a weekend or after a long days work. The famous slogan really speaks for itself "A fun, casual, joint", but it doesn't happen to mention the delicious food they have available!  We are regular Rooster customers, we usually go a couple of times a month. We usually stick with our favorites from the menu, but you really can't go wrong with anything they have to offer. Whether it's the loaded nachos, a burger, or their tender boneless wings dipped in your choice of TOP OF THE LINE wing sauce, you wont be disappointed. Most of the time we go with the boneless wings drenched in tangy sweet Thai chili sauce. The quality of the meat is unbeatable, but the big kicker for us is the sauce. The sweet

Amorino has the Gelato

Oh gelato, you make me smile, especially in the form of a beautiful rose. Yes, you read that correctly, gelato in the shape of a rose. You can find this so called rose shaped gelato at Amarino in Chicago. After hearing about this place, I HAD to add it to our itinerary while we were back in the Windy City. Amarino is downtown, and we didn’t have that much trouble finding parking. We went later in the afternoon; I would say around 5 p.m. and found Amarino to be especially empty. When you enter the double sliding doors (cool touch) you will be right in front of their gelato selections. They have a wide selection. We came for the rose, but you are able to get a simple bowl instead as well.  When finally deciding what flavors we wanted we ended up with Pistachio, cookie butter, and chocolate. The flavors went very well together. We watched in awe as the server sculpted a beautiful rose master piece in front of us. It turned out so pretty!

Fatso's.. hopefully Not-so Last Stand

Fatso’s Last Stand is a "somewhat" fast food restaurant that can also be found on the outskirts of Chicago. When it comes to hot-dogs, Chicago is the place you want to be. For those who may not know, the traditional Chicago dog includes an all-beef frank placed on a poppy seed bun, with a lot of toppings such as, white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled peppers, and lastly yellow mustard. Out of the many, many, places in Chicago you can find a great hot dog we wound up at Fatso’s. Not only does Fatso’s offer great hot-dogs, they have their own spin on hamburgers. The burger is famously named “The Fatso Burger” and we couldn’t leave without trying both. When ordering you’ll also notice that all of their hot-dogs are served Chicago style, but you can add or remove all the toppings that you would like. Fatso’s has a few different types of hot-dogs to pick from in terms of the meat and style
