Did someone say Root Beer Float?

Have you ever had a root beer float the size of a traffic light? (Not literally but pretty dang close.) We have....

Fitz's

Our next stop was Fitz's Root Beer. It's a soda shop located on the Delmar Loop in St. Louis. If you've never visited the loop there is a cool selection of stores, restaurants and shops in the area. If you're looking for entertainment and in the area this is a great place to find it.

We discovered Fitz by browsing through tons of itineraries and trip ideas for the St Louis area on Pinterest.  I was amazed by the giant floats I had seen so many pictures of, so I couldn't resist the urge to track this place down and try one for myself!

Upon entering there was a line at the door, but we were fortunately given the option to sit at the bar at absolutely no wait!

The hostess told us to go right on upstairs, and we found the bar easily. When we sat down the bar tender placed menus before us and I skipped right to the float section.

Seth on the other hand found more interest in all of the selections of pop they had.

Fitz's restaurant also makes and bottles their own pop! And you can actually witness it in the works while you enjoy your dinner. They had many different flavors of soda to choose from. You can list a bunch of flavors, as many as you can think of, and I'm sure they will have it!

All the way from dark cola, root beer, and grape, to lemon lime. Not to mention some signature "Fitz flavors" such as Key Lime soda, Coffee Cola and Berry Pomegranate named "Hip Hop Pop".

Seth opted in for the hip hop.

"It was pretty decent, I expected more of a fruity taste, but it was far from disappointing. It had a good bit of sweetness and an original flavor I've never tasted in a soda before."

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for. Mr. Ghost Buster

Out of all of the different float options they offered, there was no way I was passing up this one. As mentioned, it was named the "Ghost Buster". The description is as follows: Draft root beer topped with chocolate ice cream, genuine marshmallow fluff, Hershey's chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry to top it all off. It was DELICIOUS. The marshmallow was super fluffy, and the ice cream was by the far the best part.

After chugging down our drinks, we decided we would go check out some of the bottling being done downstairs. It was behind glass and there was a big machine doing most of the processes. You were allowed to stand there and watch for as long as you would like. Nearby there was also seating, so if you wanted to have dinner with a cool twist while eating you could chose to be seated there.

Fitz was the perfect option for the near-end of our day one in St. Louis.

We planned on eating at Imo's pizza afterward, so we didn't get to try any of the other food items they offered, but they seemed to have a variety of burgers and sandwiches also.

If you're interested in hearing more about our St. Louis trip, keep a lookout for our upcoming post tomorrow! Our very first travel entry!

Thanks for reading, Tasty!

Roosters, it's an Ohio thing!

We are so proud to be from Ohio for so many reasons, and Roosters being one of them!  Roosters is a restaurant that only 'Ohioans' or Ohio visitors know about. It's not a five star fancy schmansy restaurant, just a tasty and fun place to eat at on a weekend or after a long days work. The famous slogan really speaks for itself "A fun, casual, joint", but it doesn't happen to mention the delicious food they have available!  We are regular Rooster customers, we usually go a couple of times a month. We usually stick with our favorites from the menu, but you really can't go wrong with anything they have to offer. Whether it's the loaded nachos, a burger, or their tender boneless wings dipped in your choice of TOP OF THE LINE wing sauce, you wont be disappointed. Most of the time we go with the boneless wings drenched in tangy sweet Thai chili sauce. The quality of the meat is unbeatable, but the big kicker for us is the sauce. The sweet

Amorino has the Gelato

Oh gelato, you make me smile, especially in the form of a beautiful rose. Yes, you read that correctly, gelato in the shape of a rose. You can find this so called rose shaped gelato at Amarino in Chicago. After hearing about this place, I HAD to add it to our itinerary while we were back in the Windy City. Amarino is downtown, and we didn’t have that much trouble finding parking. We went later in the afternoon; I would say around 5 p.m. and found Amarino to be especially empty. When you enter the double sliding doors (cool touch) you will be right in front of their gelato selections. They have a wide selection. We came for the rose, but you are able to get a simple bowl instead as well.  When finally deciding what flavors we wanted we ended up with Pistachio, cookie butter, and chocolate. The flavors went very well together. We watched in awe as the server sculpted a beautiful rose master piece in front of us. It turned out so pretty!

Fatso's.. hopefully Not-so Last Stand

Fatso’s Last Stand is a "somewhat" fast food restaurant that can also be found on the outskirts of Chicago. When it comes to hot-dogs, Chicago is the place you want to be. For those who may not know, the traditional Chicago dog includes an all-beef frank placed on a poppy seed bun, with a lot of toppings such as, white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled peppers, and lastly yellow mustard. Out of the many, many, places in Chicago you can find a great hot dog we wound up at Fatso’s. Not only does Fatso’s offer great hot-dogs, they have their own spin on hamburgers. The burger is famously named “The Fatso Burger” and we couldn’t leave without trying both. When ordering you’ll also notice that all of their hot-dogs are served Chicago style, but you can add or remove all the toppings that you would like. Fatso’s has a few different types of hot-dogs to pick from in terms of the meat and style
